Payne Stewart Legacy

Faith, Family, Fun.

Payne Stewart:
A Golf Icon and Family Man

Payne Stewart was an extremely gifted golfer who wanted to use his platform to make a difference in other people’s lives. He was transformed through his loving family and growing faith, and wanted people of all backgrounds to experience the joy he had found through Christianity.

Payne’s Ongoing Legacy

As a PGA TOUR personality, Payne became one of the game’s most beloved and recognized players, known as an entertainer, jokester, and golf fashion icon. But those closest to him knew him as a family man and a devoted, fun-loving husband and father. Payne had a deep and growing faith that shaped him into the legend that continues to inspire well beyond his tragic death in 1999.

Family Values

Payne was best known to his family and closest friends for three things: faith, family, and the fun he had with golf. Today, this legacy lives on in the annual PGA TOUR Payne Stewart Award, presented by Southern Company, given to the PGA player who best epitomizes charity, character, and sportsmanship both on and off the course.

Maintaining a Meaningful Legacy

Although Payne is no longer physically with us, we aim to uphold his memory with our golf camps and learning leagues that are built on a foundation of his values.
